Croats invited to boycott gas stations
Discontent and anger over oil prices and gasoline derivatives has led to a group inviting all citizens of Croatia to boycott the gas pumps on 22 February for 24 hours. The inititive is taking wings via social networking website Facebook.

State pays out millions due to slow court proceedings
The Croatian state paid out a whopping 38.4 million kuna in compensation in 2010, because of slow court proceedings, namely due to final judgements relating to the violation of the right to trial within a reasonable time. Reasonable time for a trial is currently "within 3 years".

TV Boss accused of taking bribes
The head of Croatian TV station Nova TV is to be investigated by the Bureau for Combating Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) concerning bribes from a media company, says daily newspaper Jutarnji list.

One in seven employed in public sector
According to the classification of the Institute of Public Finance, there are 25 companies with roughly 67,000 people working in Croatia's public sector. Data released from 2010 shows the average salary in this sector is 7,630 kuna (1,000 Euros), 1,600 kuna more than the average salary in Croatia.
