Austria's Alps are alive with the sound of music again - thanks to a bizarre bid to get hikers to yodel.

Expert yodellers have recorded themselves warbling traditional mountain melodies which can be played at speakers dotted along along footpaths in Konigsleiten.

Local yodelling expert and hotel owner Christian Eder - who dreamed up the scheme - explained: "All they have to do is push a button and then copy the yodel."

"The idea is to get people to be less reserved and release themselves.

"People might feel inhibited in their normal lives, but up here in he mountains they can feel a bit more free," he added.
