A callous crook who stole from a drunk who'd passed out on a railway track and then left his victim to be run over by a train has been arrested by police in Stockholm, Sweden.
CCTV footage of taken from the Sandsborg subway station shows the thief hop down onto the track and search the pockets of the drunk after he collapsed in the early hours of the morning.
Other images show him leaving the station with his victim's wallet, mobile phone and a gold chain without raising any alarm.
Astonishingly, the 38-year-old victim Johannes Larsson survived because the train driver managed to break in time.
Police spokesman Peter Brottman said: "This crime shows an unusual ruthlessness."
"The victim had amazing luck, really. Half of his left foot has been amputated and his right knee has been damaged but he is lucky to be living at all," he added.
Police in Sweden arrested the man and are questioning him but say they have no doubt that the arrest was of the correct person after they were flooded with leads when the story was put on the local version of crime watch.
The robber, who is in his thirties, was taken by police from the suburb of Akalla just north of Stockholm. He faced charges of aggravated theft and concealment of stolen property.
Two other men are being held on suspicion of protecting a criminal.
