A gang of burglars had their own idea about knockdown bargains - when they battered down the connecting walls between three shops and fled with the contents.
Police in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, southern China day the crooks used sledgehammers to smash their way through the adjoining wall of an abandoned neighbouring hostel.
Then they were able to smash their way from shop to shop without setting off intruder alarms on the doors.
Victim Wan Lu said: "We were in the middle of a clearance sale. At least we don't have to worry about stocktaking any more."
