The elaborate firecrackers - in the shape of a heart with the Chinese characters for 'Good Luck' in it - were so loud they stopped the traffic in Tianjin city, northern China.
Traditionally, Chinese newlyweds ward off evil spirits with fireworks during the service.
"But these were astonishing. The noise and the smoke were so massive that all the cars outside the venue had to stop until it cleared," said one guest.
