Deer Little Thing

Oh deer. Mum might have to lick this tiny youngster's manners into shape.
But when you're as little and as rare at this baby Java mouse-deer born in Zurich Zoo in Switzerland, the odd slip of the tongue can be forgiven.
In the wild, the miniature deer lives exclusively in the disappearing rainforests on the Indonesian island Java.
And even when the three-week-old fawn is fully grown like mum it will barely reach eight inches high.
Its long tongue, say experts, is used to help it forage on the densely grown rainforest floor
Zoo manager Robert Zingg said: "It's still extremely tiny and we don't know if it's a male or female yet. They are extremely rare in the wild and we're delighted to have one born here."
However, the long and the short of zoo life is that the youngster will have to keep her eyes open for her neighbours.
"They live in enclosure next to the elephants so there's quite a difference in scale," said Zingg.
