A stolen undertaker's van loaded with 12 full coffins has been traced by police after a week-long hunt.

The unmarked white van was pinched in Berlin, Germany, while the driver was delivering the coffins to a crematorium.

It was found yesterday (Tuesday) stashed in woodlands over the border in Krolikow, Poland, with all 12 caskets still intact.

Local police spokeswoman Hanna Wachowiak explained: "We don't think the thieves had any idea what was in the van.

"But once they had it, they just didn't know what to do with them."

Two men aged 25 and 27 have confessed to the theft and police are seeking two other suspects identified as Maks Skibicki and Tomasz Sporny, 34.
