Consumer protection agency warns people about telephone fraud

The Croatian Association for Consumer Protection is warning mobile-phone users not to call certain numbers back.

The association said today (Fri) calling back numbers beginning with +39, +390, +391, + 392, +393 and +394 would cost people who did so a lot.

The association has been alerted by people who were tricked. They did not know who had called them, so they called back. Just one call cost some people more than 2,000 Euros.

The association has recommended that people erase those numbers if they notice them on their cell phones.

Some of those numbers have been programmed to prevent callers from ending calls immediately, which means the bill gets bigger by the minute.
