Rehn expects Croatia’s EU accession negotiations will resume

European Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said yesterday (Thurs) in Brussels he expected Croatia’s EU accession negotiations would soon be unblocked.

That question would be discussed at a meeting of EU, Croatian and Slovene ministers of foreign affairs on Monday in Luxembourg, Rehn said.

Slovenia has blocked the opening of additional chapters in Croatia’s EU accession negotiations because of a dispute over its maritime boundary with Croatia.

Rehn said: "For the last six months, we have been working on finding the best solution to the border dispute between Croatia and Slovenia. We are close to succeeding, and I believe it is time to end this process and unblock Croatia’s EU accession negotiations."
