Dancing On Ice

A fawn nicknamed Bambi after she was spotted unwillingly skating on an iced-over lake had to be rescued when she became too weak to climb ashore.
The fawn was given the nickname by fireman called to rescue her after she staged a re-enactment of the Disney cartoon, where Bambi skates around on the lake struggling to stay on his feet.
By the time firemen arrived the baby deer was already too exhausted to move on the frozen Keltenberg lake in Bad Sauerbrunn, Austria.
Firemen Markus Izmenyi, 42, had to crawl over the ice to save the fawn.
He said: "The fawn was probably curious about the ice and maybe looking for a drink. Once she stepped onto the ice though she could not get back to the side. Every time she tried to stand she slipped over and each time moved further to the middle of the lake. We had to act quickly. The ice was very thin and there was a real danger of the fawn falling through.
"We edged over the lake and managed to secure her and pull her to safety. The ice was little more than a centimetre thick. It was just about holding her weight. It was a race against time."
The baby deer was dried and then warmed up using a special thermal blanket before it was released back into the wild - away from the lake.
