A real life Pretty Woman who gave up her 5,000 GBP a week earnings after falling for a man outside the vice trade has become a TV star in a documentary where she tells of her struggle to give up the red light business.

Blonde Mona Gerste, 34 - from Cologne, Germany - went from high society hooker to housewife when she met businessman Ingo Koenig, 50, the film reveals.

And she says Julia Roberts' movie version of a call girl going straight is way off the mark.

"For one, someone with those looks would not be struggling to pay the rent," she said.

"Giving up the money was the hardest thing of all. As a prostitute it's easy money. I felt important to my clients and I was independent," added Mona.

Film-maker Nicole Rosenbach said:"Now she gets by on 400 Euros a month given to her by her partner because she can't get a job in the outside world. It's tough for her to stick to her new life but she knew the old one was killing her."
