Georges Faith in Austrian Docs

Marija Andric

George Michael has announced he wants to go to the hospital and give the doctors a big hug when he returns to Vienna to play his 'thank you' concert for the medical staff who saved his life.

He almost died when he was struck down with severe pneumonia whilst on tour in the Austrian capital in November 2011.

George Michael said his return to Vienna that it will be a "very emotional" moment when he plays his concerts on the 4th and 6th of September.

George Michael said: "I want to say a personal thank you to those doctors who saved my life. I definitely want to visit the doctors in Vienna's AKH and give them a big hug."

It is not planned that he will visit his hospital room at Vienna's AKH as he says "I went through a really hard time there."

George Michael also said he wants to use his very painful experiences to create positive songs which will give people happiness and comfort.

George is currently working on a new album, and preparing to take part in the Olympics closing ceremony.

He said: "I want to make a classic George Michael album - probably the most suitable for radio since Faith was released."

George Michael donated 1,000 tickets to medical staff for a special concert in Vienna at the hospital as a thank you for saving his life.
