Kind-hearted driver Karl Weiss went all doe-eyed when he knocked down a wild deer and drove its body to a police station to report the accident.

Until the 'dead' deer returned to life on the back seat of his car and nearly crashed it.

Weiss, 67 - from Peine, Germany - explained: "It turned out the the deer had just been shocked."

"I was shocked when it started jumping around and almost crashed she car.

"The deer was uninjured but my car was left in a right mess," he added.

A police spokesman explained: "He was right to report what he thought was the death of a wild animal, but very few people bring the bodies with them."

"It turned out the deer was even more wild when it woke up," they added.
