Saucy advertisers in southern China have had a sweet and sour reception to a new stunt - where they stuck hundreds of soy sauce bottles on the handrails of a local subway line trains.

The fake bottles - on show in Shenzhen, Guangdong province - have baffled commuters who've mistaken them for the real thing and tried to remove them.

"Some people think it's a paid because these trains get crowed and they get in the way of the hand rails," said one commuter.

"But I think they're fun and different," they added.
