A paraglider was inches from death after he was left hanging from a high-voltage power cable after his main chute failed to open during a jump near Graz in Austria at the weekend.
Hannes Graf, 32, had made the jump successfully but for unknown reasons shortly after the main chute opened it collapsed together – causing him to drop to the earth until he could pull his emergency chute.
But he failed to gain control despite stopping his descent and ended up hanging from the high-voltage power cable.
Fireman and police were alerted to the man's plight but had to cut off the electricity before they could pull him through. A fire brigade spokesman said that if he had touched the ground or if they had tried to touch and he could have been killed instantly.
He was then freed from his predicament by fireman and local electricity plant workers.

Croatia to take part in building two pipelines
Representatives of the Governments of Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a memorandum highlighting their intention to construct two new pipelines - the Trans-Adriatic (Trans Adriatic Pipeline, TAP) and the Ionian-Adriatic (Ionian Adriatic Pipeline, IAP), the news agency RIA Novosti reports.
