Fish farmer Huang Lu is suing planners in southern China after she turned down their plea to sell her lake to make way for a new road - and then her 30,000 fish mysteriously died overnight.

Huang - from Foshan, Guangdong province - says she's lost more than 3,000 GBP due to the poisoning.

"They wanted to make a new road into the city right across my land but I've been farming this land for years and we depend on the income," she explained.

Health officials have banned any of the fish from sale and say Huang must leave them in the lake to rot.

"We are investigating how this happened," confirmed a village council official.
