Red-faced firefighters had to rescue themselves after they drove into a massive pothole on their way to an emergency in eastern China.
The crew had ignored roadworks signs in Qufu, Shandong province, and sunk up to their axles in rubble and tarmac.
"It was an emergency and we were in a hurry.
"Unfortunately we were completely stuck and had to call for help and eventually a fork lift truck got us out," said a fire service spokesman.
Meanwhile, the householder whose home burned to the ground while the fire truck was stuck says he's going to sue the brigade for negligence.
"We waited but they never came. They should have taken more care," he told local media.
