Shocked keepers of seven young tigers found dead in their cages have accused jealous rivals of poisoning the endangered big cat.

The bodies of the beasts - being trained for performances to Russian audiences - were discovered by staff at the Moscow based Nikulin Circus during a nationwide tour.

Trainer Karina Bagdasarova said: "We seriously suspect they’ve been poisoned. It is devilry, pure and simple."

"We perform in all cities to great success. Someone may not like it," she added.

None of the animals had any health problems and autopsy tests on the bodies have been inconclusive.

Now experts from Russia's Federal Inspection Service for Natural Resources Use are to investigate the deaths.

"We’ve lost our most talented tigers," said Bagdasarova.
