Fur Sale: One Husky

Animal cruelty officials are investigating a small ad offering a rug made from the skin of a Siberian husky in Kosice, Slovakia.

The ad says the 50 GBP skin comes without the dog's teeth or skull before adding: "Does not shed any hair. Nice work. Popular with cats. "

A picture on the ad shows the rug flat on the snow covered ground with the current owner's cat sitting next to it.

Wildlife welfare group Animal Liberty leader Roman Serfelovu said:"The question we want answered is whether the dog was killed intentionally for the purpose of making a rug, or naturally.

"We will also investigate whether the man is a fit person to keep animals, and may confiscate the cat."

A police spokesman said: "We are investigating to see how the animal died and if cruelty or bad treatment was involved."
