Bus Strop

croatiantimes.com

Typical. You wait all year for a planning application, and then two arrive together for the same plot of land.

When a couple bought the land next to their guest house in Kolbudy, Poland, they didn't suspect the seller had also flogged it to the local bus company.

"The first we knew was when we woke up one morning and there was a bus stop there," said Dariusz Piotrowski, 44.

"We'd both bought the same land from the same man.

"The bus company didn't know about us and we didn't know about them," said his partner Ewa Trojanowska, 53.

Now transport officials have agreed to demolish the shelter after judges ruled that the guest house owners bought it first.

The bus company would have known about the problem had they checked the land registry papers, the court ruled.

"Our neighbours aren't very happy because they have to walk further, but at least we can get on with our extension," said Ewa.

But another legal battle is pending - over who will pay for the cost of the demolition.
