A crooked government official who built an astonish 1 million GBP on a tomb for his family's ancestors is being investigated in southern China.
Middle-ranking state administrator Lin Jianquan is said to have created the palatial grave in Tanxi, Guangdong province, despite officially earning just 20,000 GBP a year from his job.
Locals claim that Lin has been swindling them on local land deals and taxes for decades.
Now government corruption investigators have promised a full inquiry into his finances.
"He has been milking us dry for as long as I can remember. This palace to the dead was the last straw.
"He thinks more of dry old bones than he does of us," said one local.
