Bio-diesel plant opens in Vukovar
Croatian Times
Croatia’s biggest bio-diesel plant has begun to operate in Vukovar in eastern Croatia.
The plant will produce 40,000 tones of bio-diesel a year from 100,000 tonnes of rape-seed oil, said Miodrag Gadze, the owner of company Europa Mill that has invested 20 million Euros in the plant.
The plant employs 20 workers, and Europa Mill will buy rape-seed oil from 2,000 households, the daily Vecernji list has reported.
Gadze said: "This is an extremely-demanding job and a lot of work. The plant was finished last year but administrative problems made it necessary to postpone the start of operations. The lack of a bio-fuel law in Croatia is also a big problem."
Croatia has the goal of producing 200,000 tonnes of bio-diesel by 2010.
