Podravka begins pate production in the USA

Croatian Times

Podravka Food Company will begin production of chicken pate in Richmond, Michigan in the USA on Thursday.

Croatian Ambassador to the USA Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic will attend the opening ceremony at the Giovanni Appetizing Foods Company.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned the import of European products containing chicken and beef a few years ago because of fear of contamination. The ban included Podravka chicken pate.

In response to that and to large interest in its product, the Croatian company decided to start production of it in the USA.

Podravka has been exporting products to the US and Canadian markets for more than 15 years and has had a branch office in New York since 2005.

Exports of Vegeta, a unique mixture of spices enriched with several kinds of dried vegetables, amount to 1,400 tonnes annually.

Podravka is reportedly the only Croatian company that produces products in America.
