EC lets Croatian ferry liner relax for another six years

Croatian national ferry liner Jadrolinija will have another six years without a real rival in its market.
The daily newspaper Novi List revealed today (Thurs) that the European Commission (EC) had accepted Croatia’s request to have the country remain free of rival EU ferry liners during the next four years as part of the country's EU accession negotiations.
Therefore, the monopoly period has been extended to 31 December 2016.
The decision will become final once all EU member state governments have approved it.
State-owned Jadrolinija has over 90 percent of the ferry market in Croatia, routes between the mainland and Adriatic islands and between the mainland and Italy.
