Japan Tobacco enters the Croatian market

Croatian Times

Cigarette manufacturer Japan Tobacco Inc. has entered the Croatian market.

The world's third-largest industry player, present in more than 40 countries, is looking for new employees in Croatia.

The daily Novi list has reported that the firm has already opened a branch office in Zagreb and is unofficially negotiating with domestic dealers about the sale of its Winston, Camel and Mild Seven cigarettes.

Japan Tobacco sees the Croatian market as the biggest and most profitable in the region and one open to international and innovative products.

Rovinj Tobacco Factory (TDR), which has 81 per cent of the cigarette market in Croatia, said it was not afraid of competition. TDR is the only cigarette producer in Croatia.

Foreign cigarettes constitute less than 20 per cent of the market in Croatia.
