Congress on rural tourism to occur in April
Croatian Times
The second Croatian congress on rural tourism, "The Concept of Long-Term Development of Rural Tourism," will be held at the Aurora Hotel in Mali Losinj on Losinj Island from 21 to 25 April.
Congress’ organisers are the Hrvatski Farmer (Croatian farmer) company, Ruralis – a consortium for development of rural tourism in Istria, and professional association "Selo," which helps develop villages.
The Congress is open to all who are directly or indirectly involved in rural tourism: stakeholders, family-farm owners, existing and future businessmen, professional associations, cooperatives and other associations, relevant national authorities, regional and local self-government, tourist boards and scientific institutions.
Organised development of rural tourism in Croatia started in 1996. In the next ten years, rural tourism became one of the most recognisable forms of tourism.
Its significance was particularly evident in the complexity of services offered and in development of rural areas.
The next step in development of rural tourism will be a strategy for the development of rural tourism that the congress will help elaborate.
