Dubrovnik

Sacked Dubrovnik's destination manager gets support from New Zealand

Croatian Times

Sacked Croatian tourism pearl Dubrovnik's Destination Manager Pave Zupan Ruskovic got support from New Zealand.

Former Croatian Tourism Minister Pave Zupan Ruskovic lost her contract as Destination Manager of Dubrovnik after openly saying it would be better if "drunk and wild" Aussie and Kiwi tourists were not visiting the ancient Croatian town, but now she has received praise from exactly that direction.

"I support Pave Zupan Ruskovic and her comments about drunken young Australians and New Zealanders. We do not like their drunken behaviour in our own cities here, at home in their own country - why should you tolerate their bad behaviour in your city," Sandy Whitehead, Australian born New Zealand citizen wrote in a communication to the Croatian Times.

"This woman should not be sacked for her comments. Please pass my thoughts on to the mayor," Sandy Whitehead added.

Pave Ruskovic should be congratulated for telling the truth, not dismissed out of fear of offending Australians and New Zealanders. I am not offended. Such behaviour should not be tolerated anywhere. Ms Ruskovic should be reinstated in her position. Perhaps young Australians and New Zealanders could be charged a levy to help pay for extra policing and use of hospital facilities.

As a proud Australian, I have been ashamed to witness the behaviour of drunken older Australians while on holiday overseas. They are the worst ambassadors for our country. No one should be sacked for writing the truth

I have a tourism business in Australia. We dont see alcohol because many young Australians behave like animals when they drink. We call our more primative people Bogans. These Bogans are a shame on our country but Croatia has primatives too and they like Turbo Folk music.A big difference is that Australian women are as bad as the men but in Croatia it is rare to see super drunk women stumbling around with everything hanging out. The better Aussies and Kiwis go to the North of Croatia. I have never seen problems in Rijeka or Pula.

Exactly, we have to put up with these overpaid drunken idiots here so why should others put up with it. They create a nuisance to others and spoil their holidays.
