Croatian Times
Croatian oil company Ina and its second largest shareholder Hungarian MOL have refuted media speculations that MOL plans to sell Ina’s Syrian oilfields, Jutarnji List writes.
The potential sale of property of that size would require the support of both large shareholders - MOL and the Croatian government. No single shareholder can consider such move alone, Ina writes in the statement.
They add that Ina supports the development of the Syrian project as "one of the most successful foreign projects in which significant financial resources and expert capacities have been invested."
Some media outlets wrote yesterday (Wed) that MOL wants to sell Ina's oilfields in Syria to Russian partner Russneft to weaken the Croatian company.
It allegedly justified the move as influenced by Syrian authorities' aversion to Jewish capital in the company.
Ina signed the agreement about the survey and the exploitation of the Syrian fields in 1999, and has invested about one billion dollars in the venture to date.
