Milk producers threaten with protests over low buying prices
Croatian Times
Some 200 milk producers have threatened with road blocks unless the Ministry of Agriculture accedes to their request to raise milk buying prices.
The producers want 4.09 kunas (0.54 Euros) per litre, and do not accept the radical prices of 2.30 kunas (0.30 Euros) that some large producers like Dukat are offering.
They accuse Dukat and Meggle that they - with "disloyal competition" of imported second-class milk and milk products - are downgrading locally produced, high-quality milk.
They say that 90 per cent of Croatian milk is above EU quality averages, Croatian Radio Television (HRT) reports.
