Croatian workers spend more time at work than the Germans or Norwegians, but are far less productive. According to data from the German statistics office Destatis, German workers spent 35.5 hours a week at work, whilst their Croatian counterparts spent 39.6 hours a week.
The data shows that the European nation which works the least is the Netherlands, with its workers working on average 30.5 hours per week. Greece were the longest workers in the EU, spending 42.1 hours a week at work, writes daily newspaper Jutarnji list.
The productive Norwegians spent 6 hours per week less at work in 2011 than the Croatians, but analysts agree that the productivity of the Croatian worker is below that of the Norwegians by up to 3 times. Croatian workers also are believed to be slightly less productive than workers in Hungary, who are at 60 per cent of the EU average.
