Austrian Spar rumoured to be taking over Tommy supermarket chain

Austrian supermarket chain Spar is negotiating a possible takeover of the Croatian supermarket chain Tommy owned by entrepreneur Tomislav Mamic from the Adriatic port of Split.
Business daily Poslovni Dnevnik reports that rumours of a takeover have been around for some time, but so far there has been no official confirmation or denial.
The paper adds that if the two companies did team up, it would be the second biggest supermarket chain in Croatia, right after Konzum which is part of the Agrokor Group.
Overall turnover of the two retailers after the merger would amount to more than 3.2 billion Croatian kuna.
