Croatian Infrastructure Minister, Sinisa Hajdas Doncic, has announced the government intends to separate telecom cables from the assets of public enterprises (HAC, ARZ, HZ, Plinacro) and enlist towers and transmission company Odasiljaci i Veze (OiV) to manage the redundant capacity. Telecompaper reports the spin-off of the fibre infrastructure from public enterprises is expected to take place in the next 90 days. This would allow the development of new networks and increase availability of basic fibre infrastructure in rural areas, and OiV could offer the infrastructure to independent operators. Also, the expansion of primary infrastructure would enable local and regional communities to compete for European funding for broadband expansion.
