Farmers have a lack of confidence in the Croatian government

Croatian Times

Farmers in Croatia have shown a lack of confidence in the Government, news agency Media Servis reports.

According to the agency, the farmers are worried that after joining the EU in July, the government will favour foreigners in land sales.

Farmer Antun Laszlo told the agency: "The farmers can not survive.

"Just as the laws have changed so far, so they will be changed again, at a higher power, and the citizens of the EU will equal rights to buy state agricultural land," he said.

Today the government announced it had no plans to sell off state land and said it would only consider leasing land.
