Croatian parliament postpones debate on new prime minister

The Croatian Parliament will reportedly not discuss the nomination of Deputy Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor as new Croatian prime minister this evening (Fri).

That discussion will most likely be postponed until Monday if Croatian President Stjepan Mesic gives Kosor a mandate to form a government.

Mesic told the media today he would support the new prime minister but doubted the new government would last until the end of the current legislative period in two years.

Mesic said: "I will cooperate with the future prime minister as I did with the last one since the country is in an extremely-difficult situation."

Mesic also reiterated he did not consider former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader a coward for resigning but had been surprised by his decision. Sanader announced his resignation earlier this week.
