An Australian citizen is suspected of being the first swine flu case in Croatia.
The 60-year-old woman from Sydney is in KBC Hospital in the Adriatic port of Split.
"First tests have shown she could have swine flu. We still wait for additional tests to confirm or deny it," doctor Nikola Bradaric has revealed.
"She is Australian citizen of Croatian roots. Can't reveal her name in aim to protect her privacy," the doctor added. "Symptoms are mild and the patient could soon be left to decide whether to leave the hospital."
Hospital director Dujomir Marasovic has confirmed the patient has been hospitalised with a body temperature of over 39 degrees Celsius. He also said she has been given Tamiflu to treat it.
The patient arrived in hospital on July 1 after her flight from Sydney.
