Man sentenced to five years for killing internet friend with katanas
Croatian Times
Bruno Duic has been sentenced to five years in prison for killing Miljen Versic with katanas or Japanese swords in December 2008.
Zagreb County Court ruled yesterday (Thurs) that Duic, 22, also needed to undergo psychiatrist treatment.
Duic claimed he was forced to kill Versic, 41, because he had attacked him and wanted to rape him. But, the judge said Duic had crossed the line of self-defence.
Duic slashed Versic 31 times with 65- and 86-centimetre-long katanas, mostly on his head and torso. The fatal slashes were those to the neck.
The young man had met Versic via an internet chat.
