The Croatian female expedition "Everest 09" that reached the summit of Mount Everest at 8,850 metres in May has won the "Croatian Pride" award for 2009.
Such recognition has been given since 2005 to Croatian residents who change their or others’ lives thanks to their courage or great contribution.
The award ceremony will be held on 6 December at the Croatian national theatre in Zagreb.
The expedition included eleven Croatian female Alpinists and their guide Darko Berljak. They are the first Croatian women to have reached the summit of Mt. Everest.
The Croatian Mountaineering Association organised the expedition.
