Turkish ship stranded at islet of Mrduja

Croatian Times

Turkish ship Murat Hacibekiroglu III was stranded off the islet of Mrduja close to Split early yesterday (Sun) morning.

The 84-metre-long ship loaded with corn has been pulled to Split and will be repaired at nearby Vranjic shipyard.

Experts still assessing the damage.

The Croatian media have speculated the load of corn could be that missing at eastern Croatian company Djakovstina.

The ship was reportedly heading from Split to Bari, Italy when it became stranded.

There were 13 crew members aboard.

The ship has a capacity of almost 20 tonnes.
