Zagreb to get more dog waste bins
Croatian Times
More than 11 tons of dog waste has been collected since Zagreb installed new bins last autumn.
The city's Department of Sanitation is satisfied with the project, which is to be extended despite criticism that it should not be a priority in the current economic climate.
There are approximately 150 bins in Zagreb's parks and 90 more are to be installed on the streets in the coming months. The city government has invested 1 million kuna (137,716 Euros) in the project.
There are still some problems, says Branko Pintaric, the assistant to the director of the Department of Sanitation. He urges citizens to use the bins and not destroy them.
"If we are just a step away from Europe, we should try to accept its standards," he added.
