Cable-car lift to connect Makarska and Biokovo
Croatian Times
The project for a 2,700-metre-long cable-car lift between the city of Makarska and Biokovo Mountain in southern Croatia is closer to realisation.
The city government decided to found the Biokovo Cableway Company today (Tues).
The project will cost more than 10 million Euros.
Makarska Mayor Marko Ozic Bebek is assured the lift will make the area more attractive to tourists.
Around 50,000 tourists visit Biokovo annually, and he believes the number will be much higher after the lift has gone into operation.
Bebek claims the investment can be recouped in five years. He says some foreign investors, including an Austrian company, are interested in investing in the lift.
