Police find Mozambican shepherd suffering from TB

Croatian Times

Police have finally found Philimon Zandamela from Mozambique who escaped from Sibenik hospital on 15 January.

They found him at Macelj on the Croatian –Slovene border and took him back to hospital on Sunday.

Zandamela was hospitalized because he was suffering from tuberculosis, but, after he escaped, the police started to search for him because he had a deadly, infectious disease.

The daily Slobodna Dalmacija has reported that Filip had been with his girlfriend in Brno in the Czech Republic.

Zandamela arrived in Croatia from Mozambique in 2001. He initially worked as a de-mining expert but later become a shepherd.

Zandamela is well known for his performances on TV shows, but some believe he was not able to handle fame, which had a negative influence on his life.

The last incident occurred when he fell from his moped into a hole in Drnis near Sibenik last year when he had a blood-alcohol level of 2.8 promille.
