Croatia expresses concern over countries that have not signed Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

Croatian Times

Croatia has expressed concern over a number of countries that have not yet signed up to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Croatian Ambassador to the UN Anto Nobilo told an international conference on nuclear disarmament today that "Croatia is especially concerned about the fact that there still exist countries that have not yet signed the Treaty and we call on these states to think about signing the agreement as states that do not posses nuclear weapons."

Israel, Pakistan and India have not signed the agreement, while North Korea withdrew its signature in 2003 and has since resisted appeals to return to the negotiating table

Croatia welcomed the decision to end nuclear testing, but also called on countries that have not yet signed the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty to do so "without delays and conditions."

Among these states are North Korea, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel, Pakistan and the United States. Earlier this week Indonesia announced that it would soon ratify the Treaty.
