British WWII veterans are heading to the remote Croatian island of Vis next week to pay tribute to their fallen colleagues who died fending off Nazi troops.
The former marine and Royal Navy commandos will be joined by the British Ambassador to Croatia, David Blunt, when they arrive for their two day visit on 25 and 26 May.
Some 6,000 British commandos and Royal Navy seamen took part in operations at Vis in 1943 and 1944 defending the island from attacking German forces during the Adriatic campaign.
The WWII veterans return every year to mark the event.
