Australian family discovers via Google Earth their property in Croatia got changed

Croatian Times

A family in Australia is trying to evict squatters after they saw on Google Earth how their property in Croatia had been rebuilt.

Katarina Zika (85) left the northern Croatian town of Orahovica to move to Australia 13 years ago where her sons already lived. She has left her house to relative Gordana Kolert and her husband to look after and live there for free while she was in Australia.

"It was all OK, until my son surfed the net and noticed there were no trees in our backyard in Orahovica, but have noticed some new roofs. We were shocked and have soon decided to travel to Orahovica", Dragutin Zika, the son of Katarina Zika has told to tabloid 24 Sata.

He has soon realized the Kolert family has destroyed some walls and built a new stable as well as spread the house more to the backyard.

Gordana Kolert has also refused to leave the property.

The case has been put to the court in Orahovica and the verdict is expected in mid September.

Gordana Kolert has even asked the owners to pay her for the works she did in the house. She suggested they pay her 80 AUD per month for the next 12 years to pay the total amount of slightly over 11,000 AUD.

The Zika family were additionally shocked as they left the Kolert family to live in their house for free for last 12 years. They've got a property renting contract, but did not demand that the Kolerts pay rent.
