In meeting with EU Commissioner for Justice, PM confident of near end to negotiations

Croatia is on target for finalising the technical part of European Union accession negotiations in the upcoming months, Croatian PM Jadranka Kosor said at a meeting with the European Commissioner for Justice Viviane Reding in the Westin Hotel in Zagreb.
The PM said the government would finish negotiations either by the end of this or at the latest at the beginning of the next year. She added that the signing of the accession agreement is expected in Spring 2011.
Speaking about chapter 23 on Judiciary and Fundamental Rights which still remains open, Kosor said that judiciary reforms and the fight against corruption would continue with equal intensity.
Reding praised Croatia’s progress and spoke of the importance of educating Croatia’s citizens about their country’s membership in the EU, the business portal Poslovni Dnevnik writes.
