Minister 'firm' on shipyard sales

Minister of Economy Radimir Cacic has met with the potential buyer of three of Croatia’s shipyards to discuss the takeover from the government.
According to the Croatian daily Jutarnji List, Cacic was very firm in insisting that Nenad Koncar’s company Jadranska ulaganja buy three shipyards - Rijeka's 3.maj, Kraljevica and Brodotrogir - "as a package."
Koncar did not comment on the meeting apart from saying that he was satisfied that the parties finally sat down at the table.
Koncars’s firm Jadranska ulaganja is financially backed by Nenad Koncar’s father Danko, who is considered to be the "real buyer." He criticised the draft contract he received at the end of last year and threatened to give up on the purchase.
The government had not previously announced the sale of the shipyards as a package. The head of the union collective HUS Ozren Matijasevic said that the negotiations had been taking too long and that any changes to tender conditions would be illegal.

Banks post huge profits in Croatia again
Banks in Croatia have once again posted huge profits. In the first three months of 2012, banks in Croatia record profits before tax of 1.29 billion kuna (170 million Euros), according to interim unaudited data for 32 banks in the country, it was announced on Wednesday by the Croatian National Bank (HNB).
Finance Ministry gets tough on evasive companies
At the request of creditors, Croatia's leading Financial Agency Fina has blocked around 38,000 companies and 26,000 tradesmen, because of more than 42 million kuna (5,3 million Euros) of outstanding liabilities, reports daily newspaper Vecernji list.
