Croatia Open wins ATP Excellence Award

The governing body of tennis, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has awarded the Croatia Open, which is held annually in the Istrian city of Umag, an award for excellence at The European Tournament Awards of Excellence for 2011.
The oldest and most prestigious Croatian tennis tournament has been recognised as the "Best Fan Experience". The unique entertainment programme Umag offers with many concerts and DJ parties, as well as presenting high local and international cuisine through the Istria Gourmet Festival, combined with excellent tennis were the reasons it received the award.
"This award is an honour and validates our continued work on the quality of the organisation of the event, but also the big commitment. This year, the 23rd edition of the tournament will be held from 5 to 15 July, and we hope to provide visitors and players once again with a superb experience," said a proud Vanja Bozickovic, director of the Umag tournament, reported daily newspaper Vecernji list.
