Black Sunday in Croatian waters

The four-day long holiday weekend in Croatia was a black one for swimmers when five people lost their lives in the water on Sunday. High temperatures saw most of the country escape to rivers, lakes and the sea around the country to cool down, but there were tragic consequences for five swimmers, reports Croatian radio television.
On Sunday a 17-year-old girl drowned whilst swimming with a friend in the Kupa river in Pisarovina (Zagreb County) and a six-year-old child also drowned in Zagreb's Lake Bundek.
A little after 6pm also on Sunday a swimmer also lost their life in the Soderica lake (Koprivnica-Krizevci County), whilst two people also drowned in the Adriatic sea. An Austrian citizen lost his life on the island of Levnaka in the Kornati islands, and staff on the ferry which sails from the island of Brac to Makarska (Split-Dalmatia County) found the body of a male.
