Croatia's Minister of Tourism Veljko Ostojic has said that golf is important for tourism for Croatia and says that the ministry will support golf projects, reports website dalje.com.
Ostojic was speaking at the Golf & Country Club in the Croatian capital Zagreb, where the European senior golf championship will take place from 8 - 12 July.
The Tourism Minister familarised himself with details of the golf tournament which will see 300 competitors from 22 nations compete. "Golf is needed for Croatian tourism and is an important part of tourist attractions, and an extra motive for tourists to come to the country and an important part of extending the tourist season here," said Ostojic, adding that Croatian tourism needs to urgently complete at least 20 golf courses in the country.
Ostojic understands the need for more golf facilities in Croatia and says that the ministry will support these projects.
"Together with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Construction, work on making amendments to the legislative framework to enable simpler realization of golf course projects should happen this autumn."

Just a quick note to say that overexposure in the numbers of golf resorts can result in bad value for money.It would be worthwhile to look first at what happened in other countries.
