American humanitarian worker receives medal for work in Croatia

American humanitarian worker Linda Benda, who during the war selflessly helped the residents of the Croatian town of Karlovac, received the Mayor's Medal on Wednesday. The deserved recognition goes to all of Benda's family, who from 1991 brought aid to the citizens, reports website kaportal.hr.
Watching the horrors of the war in Croatia unfold on television, Benda could not just sit and watch so she decided to take action. Benda collected food, medicine and clothing and distributed it to the needy in Karlovac.
On the eve of Karlovac's 433rd birthday, the deserved medal was presented to Linda in the city she has grown to love.
